Tristan Somchai Do (Thai: ทริสตอง สมชาย โด) is a Thai-French professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Thai Leagues 1 club Muangthong United and the Thailand national team.
Do’s father is of half Vietnamese-Thai and his mother is French. Do is fluent in French and can speak Thai. Do’s paternal grandfather is Vietnamese who moved to Thailand at childhood, thus making him theoretically eligible to play for Vietnam.
Do is eligible to play for France, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Vietnam Football Federation has contacted Do to play for them, but Do chose to play for Thailand, the country of his father’s birth. In 2015, Do had appeared in friendly matches for Thailand U23. Do was part of Thailand U23’s squad in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games.
Do was called up to the Thailand squad for the first time for the friendly match against Afghanistan and 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Iraq. In September 2015, Do debuted for Thailand against Afghanistan. Subsequently, he played against Iraq in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
