Hainan is located on the southern coast of the People’s Republic of China. Due to it’s small size, Hainan is the smallest province of the P.R. of China.
The Chinese government in Beijing claims that the Spratly Island and Paracel Island belongs to the P.R.C. but it’s disputed by several countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Hainan Island has a tropical climate. The average temperature is less then 15o Celsius. The temperature varies from 16o Celsius to 21o Celsius throughout the year. The summer months of July and August are the hottest month and the temperature are between 25o Celsius to 29o Celsius.
The eastern part of the Hainan Island has frequent cyclones and 70% of the rain is due to cyclones and the cyclone’s causes major flooding and problems for the Hainanese population.
The Economy of Hainan Island
On Hainan Island, agricultural products is the major source of income. The GDP in 2006 was 122.96 billion Yuan and it contributed just only 0.5% to the overall economy of the People’s Republic of China. In 2007, the per Capita income for Hainan Islands was 14631 Yuan.

The International Airport of Hainan is Haikou Meilan and its about 25 km located from the main land.
